Heartland Spine & Specialty Hospital was founded by leading physicians from multiple practices and specialties located throughout the Kansas City area. Opening in September of 2003, with approximately 56 physicians on medical staff, HSSH has expanded the scope of practice to include new specialties and grown the medical staff to more than 80 physicians at present.

Operating Rooms - 7 rooms

Each digital operating room has a C-arm fluoroscopy unit for intraoperative safety and visualization. All rooms are oversized to facilitate patient safety and superior outcomes.

Patient Rooms - 19 private inpatient rooms

Each room has digital cable TV/music, plasma flat-screen HDTVand physical therapy equipment. Other patient rooms include:

• 10 overnight short-stay recovery suites
• 20 pre- and post-procedure full-privacy walled suites
• Five Level-1 post-anesthesia care beds
• One Level-1 private adolescent recovery suite

Pain Management - 3 treatment rooms

Each room has a C-arm fluoroscopy unit.

Heartland Spine & Specialty Hospital has made significant investments in cutting-edge diagnostic technologies within our fully-digital Imaging Center.

• 3.0 Tesla MRI scanner with twice the power of other scanners improves accuracy/quality and reduces scan time.
• 16-slice CT scanner improves detail and decreases radiation exposure.

Fiber-optic Teleconferencing

Stryker Endo-Suite, a fiber-optic real-time teleconferencing system, allows physicians / fellowship students to view real-time surgeries from a videoconferencing room.
