Our patients know Heartland Surgical Specialty Hospital stands for excellence in hospital care, and they've helped us achieve industry-wide recognition.

For the third consecutive year, Heartland Surgical Specialty Hospital was recognized with a national award for being a top performer in quality and patient satisfaction.

Press Ganey and Associates, a leader in measuring healthcare quality, named Heartland a 2011 Summit Award winner. The Summit Award recognizes top performing facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years. Heartland was also recognized with this award in 2010 and 2009.

Don Burman, Chief Executive Officer of Heartland, said the award is a testament to the quality of the hospital’s staff and the doctors who practice there. “We strive to care for every family like our own. The members of the Heartland team are dedicated to that concept, and it shows,” he said.

Press Ganey Associates maintains databases that are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark their results against peer organizations. Press Ganey currently partners with more than 10,000 healthcare facilities—including 50% of U.S. hospitals—to measure and improve the quality of their care.

The honor comes as Heartland is expanding its services to the community, and while physician-owned hospitals in general are the target of industry pressure and government regulation. Doctors who practice in the area founded the hospital in 2003. Historically, physician-owned hospitals are praised by patients who prefer the smaller hospital setting and the level of service they have come to enjoy.
