Heartland Spine and Specialty Hospital prides itself on maintaining high standards of patient care. Patients know what makes a hospital stay as pain-free as possible. We have taken time to measure our level of care, both in patient feedback and in actual measurements.
Our patients provide feedback with each and every stay. In fact, 92 percent of patients surveyed in 2007 and 2008 said they would definitely recommend the hospital to others. In addition, the infection rates at Heartland average .05 to .07 percent; well-below the industry average. This means patients are more likely to have few complications caused by infections, due to the procedures and environment at Heartland. Regarding patient care, the national average for staff turnover is 15 to 20 percent. At Heartland, the turnover rate is 5 percent and has never been higher than 10 percent. This translates to consistency in your care with an experienced staff.
In addition to patient care, Heartland combines the feeling of a community hospital with state-of-the-art equipment and specialized expertise of a major medical center. Unlike most other facilities, our physical and occupational therapists provide services seven days a week to our inpatients. All rooms are private rooms with flat-panel televisions and wireless Internet access.
Our proactive registration process for both inpatient and outpatient procedures will make you feel welcome from your first step in the door.
In keeping with our desire to provide excellence in patient care, Heartland has developed a program to help answer some of your questions before your scheduled surgery. Once your surgery has been scheduled, you will be contacted by a Heartland employee to set up a time to meet with an RN before your surgery date.
When you come to the hospital for your preadmission visit, the registered nurse will ask you for your medical and surgical history. Please be sure to bring a list of your medications with you.
The preadmission nurse will take time to explain what you should do before surgery, what to expect the day of surgery and what your hospital stay may be like. Physical therapy will visit with you and provide pre-procedure exercises, as appropriate. You will receive a tour of the hospital if you would like and the nurse will escort you to the lab to get all of your preadmission testing completed.
We hope the opportunity to come and visit us before your surgery will make you more at ease the day of surgery. If you have any questions about your preadmission visit, contact the preadmission nurse at 913-754-4544.
