If You Are Having Surgery
Having surgery can be a challenging time for you and your family. Taking steps to alleviate some of that stress prior to your surgery will be very beneficial.
Scheduling Your Surgery
Once your surgery has been placed on the hospital's schedule, you will be contacted by Heartland scheduling personnel to set up a meeting between you and a preadmission nurse, who is a registered nurse. When you come to the hospital for your preadmission visit, the registered nurse will ask you for your medical and surgical history. Having this information available when you arrive will help make this a much less stressful meeting.
We hope this opportunity to come and visit the hospital before your surgery will make you more at ease the day of surgery. If you have any questions about your preadmission visit, contact the preadmission nurse at 913.754.4544.
During this visit, you will also be given instructions about obtaining the exact time of your surgery and arrival instructions for the day of your surgery. Your physician will give you specific instructions that will need to be followed the day or night before your scheduled surgery.
Remember, we want to answer all of your questions, no matter how minor those questions or concerns may seem. The more informed you are about your surgery, the more comfortable you will feel with our staff and the hospital when you are here to actually have the surgery.
